Vice President: Deva Cabezon

Deva Cabezon is a 5th year senior in Mechanical Engineering, born and raised in Baton Rouge, she joined SPM at the end of her freshman year with a desire to get involved, strengthen leadership skills, and give back to the STEM community. After working as a team leader and then a program leader in  SPM’s Encounter Engineering camp, Deva has been most involved in the supplemental instruction program where she was an SI for CE 3400, also known as Strengths, or Mechanics of Materials, for four semesters. She really enjoyed the opportunity to help other students not only pass a difficult course, but also understand the material and how it might apply in their future jobs and internships. Deva has always supported anyone who has an interest in STEM and believes that anyone can become an engineer and solve the world’s problems with the right experience and guidance. This is why she became involved with SPM. During her sophomore year she was able to co-op as a Mechanical Engineer for Albemarle Corporation, then during the summer after her junior year she was a Fixed Equipment engineer at ExxonMobil. This past summer Deva was a manufacturing engineer at Rolls-Royce and is looking forward to graduation in May 2018. Outside of school Deva enjoys hiking, kayaking, and road trips to explore new places.
