President: Chase Shaheen
Chase grew up in Walker, Louisiana and is a senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor in Computer Science. He joined the Society of Peer Mentors his sophomore year after completing ENGR 1050, a class mentored by SPM. Chase spent two years serving as the Secretary of SPM, developing a new points system and keeping track off member activity, before winning the presidency. Chase spent this past summer working as a Process Engineering Intern at Nissan Manufacturing and Assembly. In his free time he likes playing a variety of sports and video games and spending time with friends.
Vice President: Rebecca Collins
Rebecca Collins moved to Baton Rouge to complete her undergraduate degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2013 from Annapolis, Maryland. During her first year at LSU she became an active member in Zeta Tau Alpha, Society of Petroleum Engineers, and American Association of Drilling Engineers. She joined Society of Peer Mentors in 2015 so she could expand her leadership and communication abilities and to encourage kids to learn more about STEM fields. The first year in Society of Peer Mentors Becca was an Outreach Co-Chair where she helped develop activities for STEM outreach, and then became Vice President in 2016. This past summer Becca was a petroleum engineering intern with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. In her spare time Becca likes to keep active by doing yoga and spending time with friends.
Secretary: Katie Render
She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Baton Rouge to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biological Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. After participating in the Society of Peer Mentor (SPM) led E2 camp in 2014, she joined and became an active member in the spring of 2015, with the hope to build leadership and communications skills and to help build community awareness of STEM fields. Following active membership and the development of an outreach activity for a chemical engineering professor, Katie became Secretary in 2016. In addition to SPM, Katie is involved with the Engineering Ambassadors and is a distinguished communicator candidate. This past summer, Katie had an internship as an oncology intern with Southern Research Institute. In her spare time, Katie likes taking her dog to the dog park, spending time with friends and playing video games.
Historian: Stephanie Wasmuth
Originally from Plainfield, Illinois Stephanie moved to Louisiana to get a degree in Mechanical engineering. She became a SPM robotics mentor her freshman year after attending the E^2 camp. She is a member of the Bengal Reauxbotics battle bot team. In her free time she likes to spend time her free with friends and read sci-fi novels.
Treasurer: Linda Shea
Linda Shea grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Baton Rouge post Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She is an Alumni of St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) from the class of 2013. At LSU she is majoring in Industrial Engineering, and minoring in Business Administration, Leadership Development, and Technical Sales; she is also an LSU Distinguished Communicator Candidate. During her sophomore year, she joined the TEDxLSU Creative Communications Student Team, Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), and Society of Peer Mentors. This past summer, Linda interned at Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) aiding in processing Safety Audits. In her spare time, she likes playing board games, volunteering, and hanging out with friends.
